Remove outsided Window and Install Door

I have an outside window that I'd like to remove and put in an outside door. Looking for any advice.

Thanks

Hello and welcome!

What is the exterior of your house? (brick, block, siding?)

When was your house built?

While you are compiling your answer, here's more questions. Is there an electrical receptacle below or near the window? How wide is the window versus how wide your door will be. You may be faced with moving the electrical, and if the door is to be wider than the window, you will need to build a new wider header.

Thanks for the replies.

House was built in 1978. It has siding that I think is aluminum.
There are no electric outlets where the door "hole" would be, but I have a trusted electrician to do any electrical work that might be needed - rerouting wire, etc.

The window is approx 41" wide (thats from the outside of the framing. The door would be a "typical" pre-hung exterior door width as purchased from Home Depot. I don't care too much about the door width, just a need door from the back yard into this room. The room has an existing exterior to that opens into the garage. Also, the top of the window is approx 83" off the floor.

Thanks for any information, much appreciated.

Assuming the door is narrower than the window opening, and there is no electric to worry about, your only real concern is finishing the outside. you may want to give some thought to that. Demolition, framing and installing the door will be the easy part. Next you will want to make it look like it actually belonged there in the first place.
