Red face Window Replacement with a Sliding Glass Door

I currently have an older home that has all new dual pane windows throughout. I have a back sliding door that I love but would also like to open up the master bedroom with a sliding glass door. I currently have one standard sized window in the room and would like to see about replacing it with a dual pane sliding glass door. Has anyone done this before? If so, is it a do-able project? About how long does the process take and estimate cost?

Thanks in advance for the help!! )

Welcome to the forums!

I helped a friend do this years ago. Cost will vary depending on what all has to be done. If this is a load bearing wall, it will have to be supported while it's cut out and a new header is installed.

Also there is a good chance you have electrical in the wall so that will also have to be dealt with. Minor items would be repairing the drywall and installing trim.

Unless you intend to do the work yourself, it is best to get several bids. Then you'll know how much it will cost
