replacing a doorway

I am currently renovating my house, and need to replace an exterior doorway with a window. but was unsure what to do with the lower half of the hole. i though about bricking it up but due to my lack of experience at bricklaying, and how the change would stand out on the outside thought it would be better to avoid this if possible does any body have a goon idea on what the best way to do this would be?

I assume you have brick on the house?? A GOOD mason can fill things in and make it barely noticeable. As an alternative, you can use plywood and paint, vinyl or other siding, faux stone, to name a few. You have to frame up the bottom to fill in the inside, so what you put on the outside is limited only by imagination and the budget.
