Reducing 96 inch sliding door opening to 81 inches.
I had previously posted this in the framing area but received no responses so I thought I may try here.
Our hall closet doors were originally 96 inches high (floor to ceiling). We would like to reduce them to a standard 81 inch height and install sliding closet doors. I have built a frame out of 2x4's that will reduce the height of the door to 81 inches. The frames dimensions are approximately 48 wide and 14 inches high.
They only problem is that I cannot find enough studs in the wall to properly mount the frame. I am not sure how I should proceed. Should I try to joint some sister boards to the closest studs in the wall or can I get away with using toggle blots to hold the frame in place sionce very little weight will be hanging from the frame. Once I am done I will drywall over the frame.
Thanks in advance.

In typical platform stick (wood) framing a door opening consists of king and trimmer studs on either side of the opening (vertical plate to plate); a header spanning between trimmer studs (horizontal), with cripple studs above the header (vertical).
How does your framing differ? Different materials(?), framing method? If your situation differs by arrangement of the walls or framing configuration, reconfigure the opening as above. Sometimes this is not easy, or straightforward.
