Ansersen Casement Crank Problem
Operator acts likes it is stripped but it isn't.
The problem is the worm gear backs out of the housing. It is retained by a nylon bushing, a spacer and is suppose to be held by the housing. Is this just press fitted into the housing?
I tried to crimp by striking with the blade of a screwdriver, it didn't hold. Should I try welding it or just be more aggressive with the crimping?
I know I can just buy the replacement, but I would rather repair it.

It is a press fit and you should replace it. Go to the Andersen website and locate the correct operator. The date code is very important and that is etched into one of the corners of the glass.
