Question Pella Screens Inside the House?

We just ordered new Pella windows. The person doing the final measurements mentioned that the screen on the patio door would be on the INSIDE and explained it had to do with how Pella does windows. We changed to a roll screen because I think it would be strange having screens inside the house. After he left I started to wonder about the other windows we ordered. Will their screens be on the inside also? We have 2 casement and 1 awning window, along with many double-hung windows. I really don't want screens INSIDE my house. Can anyone out there with Pella windows let me know?

Thanks,
Sherry

Casement and Awning screens are ALWAYS on the inside, no matter what brand of window you buy. Double hung screens are always on the outside. The roll-a-screen is nice.

Pella Screens Inside the House

But if we purchased the blinds inside the casement window, wouldn't the screen be between the 3rd pane of glass [houses screens and muttons] and the 1st pane [insulated glass]? So from inside the house it would be the glass with the blinds, the screen, and the regular window glass.

No. How do you imagine you would let any air in if you open the window and the screen is sandwiched between glass? The screen is on the inside, and the part that cranks out holds all the glass, blinds and grilles. Hope this helps.

As others have pointed out, casement and awning windows all have the screens on the inside. As for the Patio doors, Pella has done this forever, and I cant argue their logic: Its to keep the screen protected since most of the time the main door is closed, and so during winter and other bad weather, the screen is kept from getting beat on. With fiberglass screen, this may not be as important, but aluminum, it makes all the difference. It makes the screen easier to operate when you leave the main door open, and it allows you to take the screen off for winter without having to do it from the outside. My personal favorite is the Andersen though... they have the roll-away screen systems that are awesome because when you dont need them, you dont see them. They are the only way to get a screen on an outswing door really.

Pella Screens Inside the House

We solved the "problem" by getting the Pella roll screen for the patio door and living room casement windows. A roll screen wasn't available for the awning window but we got the invisi-screen for that window. Now I can't wait for them to be installed. Thanks for the input everyone.
