replacement windows

my mom is replacing a large picture window with 2 slider windows. She has had a few estimates but is more confused than ever. her options are as follows (as passed on to me) :
1) vinyl over wood
2) aluminum over ??
3) vinyl with foam insulation
she's looking for low maintenance, high insulation
Thanks

Most wood windows are covered with something on the outside to make a maintenance free exterior, but the inside will need paint or stain/poly. Solid vinyl windows are maintenance free inside and out, are usually less expensive than wood, equally as energy efficient, and not affected by moisture. But the look of wood on the inside is hard to beat.
