New Home Windows
I'm building a new home and am getting a bid for new windows. What kind of questions do I need to ask when getting a bid? I am thinkning of using wood clad, low E, and argon.
Thanks, John

Most windows installed in new construction are builders quality windows, the cheapest available. There are usually upgrades before the house is built, but once built you are stuck with what they installed.
IMHO, the best value for a wood window is Andersen 400 series products. Well made, energy efficient, when properly installed(that goes for any window), and Andersen stands behind their products. Their 200 series are not junk, but not as good. Marvin is a upsacle door/window maker. Their products are about 1/3 more than Andersen, but I don't see that much difference in quality. Weathershield and JeldWen are some names you will see. They make good products but also make builders quality junk. I have had too many problems with customer service from Pella to recommend them.
