How to intall stool molding for window.

My (wooden) bedroom door was shut too hard and is now cracked through the handle and almost end to end. So, I was wondering -- should I attempt to fix it or just get a new door? Also, if it's the first, what would be the best method? Thanks, Wes [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

thanks for looking at my post! I have an old pine door that I am planning on refinishing for who knows how many years...:coffee: Half of the original finish is gone and it really looks ugly (btw. it is exposed to the sun in AM) and I don't have anything to block the sun. I've seeing nice looking doors at home remodeling stores and at Costco, just don't want to spend that kind of money and it will probably lead to a new lock and handle that easily can run into hundreds. I know that light color finish is probably the most logical, i just happen to like darker ones. What can I do to ensure longevity of the finish? I am going to strip whatever's left there, stain it in probably walnut or redwood and then high sheen lacquer on top. Any suggestions? Thanks!
