metal door installation

We just installed a metal door and frame in the interior or a building, we are ready to fill in around frame and paint. We see that there are three holes along the side of the frame and were wondering if that is for spray in (expanding) insulation? Is it important to fill in the air space between the frame and opening for fire safety? Thank you in advance.

Sounds like you have a welded frame for a masonry wall. The three holes are countersunk right? They are for expansion bolts to hold the frame into a masonry or concrete wall. As long as it is secured well you can just putty the holes. What is on the wall it was installed in? You should fill in around it with the same material.
