Door Hardware Quality

Could someone provide me a short list of some of the better quality door handleset providers? Preferably someone with inside knowledge, i.e., a contractor or dealer. I am swapping out all the hardware in my house to update the look and am trying to decide how high end to go.

I am familiar with Baldwin, Weslock, and Schlage, so any comparisons with those as reference points would be great. Thanks in advance!

A caveat: presently you don't understand enough about door hardware quality to be able to judge quality. Using brand names a source of quality was the giveaway. You could gain some insight in the Lock & Keys forum, or ask one of the smiths.

All the ones you mention are good locksets. Kwickset is probably on the lower end, although when they made Titan locks, it added another pin to the mix, making it a little more secure.
Schlage is one of the top of the line and resists bump keying better than most other brands. You will need to actually look at the designs to make sure you can get what you want in the brand you want, but I think you will do fine with any of the ones you mention, especially Schlage. If it is any help, I have a Baldwin brass one piece handle/lock on my front door. I accidently locked myself out. I called a locksmith, and they couldn't pick the lock because of the number of tumblers and how they are set. I was able to open the garage door with a key pad, and the locksmith picked my Schlage lock no problem. Medco also makes a very good lock. Good luck!
