replacing rollers on patio door-MOVED

I went to help a friend replace his rollers on his patio door. The rain lip on the inside of the door was high, so we went to take off the fixed door. We removed the stops on the end of the door, and thought the door would come off. wrong! we looked for other screws, brackets, that might be holding the door in, nothing! The only thing we can think of is the installers screwed sheet metal screws into the fixed end of the door while building home. Can anyone think of what we may have over looked, to get this door off the frame?

 

If its been there for any length of time, it can be a bear. Many of the builder grade are basically press fit into the frame.
Hopefully they didn't put any caulk in the end before sliding it in.

You may also have a cover over the bottom track in front of the moving panel if its a reversible door.

Don't pull on the frame of the panel, you can pull it away from the insulated glass. Try gently using a pry bar, protecting the track with a block of wood and lifting at the accessable end of the panel, while flat palm pulling on the glass of the panel. Back and forth, up and down will normally break them free.

I've never heard of anyone adding inaccessable screws to a door, leaving stuff out, yes, but not adding.

Any idea on brand, or where it was purchased?

 

No idea who built the door, but you can bet it was cheap, this is a pulte home. You may be right they could have added a bead of caulk to the stationary door. When I have time we will have to tackle this problem again, it should not be this difficult.

 

I am going to move this to the door forum. I think you might get more suggestions.
