Exclamation Motor Unit sprocket came off garage door opener

The Motor Unit Sprocket that holds the chain on to my garage door opener came off today. I have a Craftsman 139.53960SRT 1/2 HP opener. Is this a part that can be replaced or fixed, or will I have to purchase a new opener?

Yes, your garage door opener can be fixed. You will need to replace the gear and sprocket shaft. If you are pretty handy it takes about 15-20 minutes, you will also want to make sure that your garage door it's self is balanced. If the door does not balance you are wasting your time replacing the part, it will just happen again.
Good luck.
