Looking for Windows with Blinds Between Panes

Doors with blinds between double paned windows are available, but I cannot find a source for windows with venitian blinds between double panes.

Does anyone know of a source?

Thanks,

Steve

What kind of window are you looking for? Wood? Vinyl? Aluminum?

Any window with blinds between double panes, but preferably vinyl or aluminum clad.

That I know of, only Pella makes those. But they are not as energy efficient as standard double glazed windows, since the glass is not sealed. Energy costs are a major concern now and getting worse, why sacrifice for less efficient windows.

Pella's "Designer Series" and "Architectural Series" windows with a single pane low-e exterior panel, and single pane interior storm panel are just as efficient as similar double paned units, and may even out perform them. The fact that the exterior and interior glass are farther apart, and that they do not share a common spacer bar like a traditional insulated glass unit (IGU) means that the interior pane of glass will have a warmer glass edge, and thus warmer center of glass temperature. The blinds themselves also have an impact on the efficiency of the entire glass package.

Pella's Designer and Architectural series windows with "Slimshades" are also available with a low-e argon IGU for the exterior glass package, in addition to the single pane interior storm panel which covers the Slimshades. This package with 3 panes of glass is vastly superior to traditional IGU's where there are only 2 panes of glass.

The bottom line when comparing different brands of windows are the NFRC stickers on the product itself- they will tell you the exact u-value and solar heat gain value of your window, which enables you to compare apples to oranges so to speak, as you compare one brand to another. When comparing u-values, a larger number is better (a u-value of .19 is larger and better than a u-value of .32)

The Pella blinds are extremely expensive, but for a top of the line wood interior/ aluminum clad exterior window, it's a good choice.

Some vinyl window companies such as Sunrise Windows offer an internal blind option. The prices scare most people away. Eagle Windows is another brand of wood window that offers internal blinds. Eagle's aluminum exterior skin is extruded, which is heavier and thus better than Pella's rolled exterior skin.
