What's the best way to fix this?

I have a front entry door (wood with wood frame) that has developed a sizeable gap between the edge of the door and the frame, right about where the locking mechanism is. This is making it hard to get the deadbolt to engage properly, not to mention the loss of heating/cooling. The top and bottom of the frame are fine..the section that is out of whack is about 14 inches long. Any suggestions?

The way I would do is take out the inside trim and shim the frame. Check the hole where the deadbolt goes in. There probably is a long screw in there and if it wasn't shimmed when they put the screw in it could of bent the frame in.
