Bifold Door Snugger Springs
I just installed a pair of 24" bifold doors. Other than the snugger springs its done. The doors seem to work fine as is. What is the actual purpose of these springs? Is it a big deal if their not installed? Also when installing a pair of bifolds what is considered the correct placement of the spring(s)? Do you install it in the center of the track between the pair of doors or do you place springs between the top pivots and jambs as well? Thanks

They sort of "back fold" the doors so that they stay firmly closed. Though they may be fine now, as things loosen with use, they may not stay closed quite as well.
They go in the upper track between the 2 doors.

Thanks for the reply. DO you need to place only one spring? Since when I temporarily placed one at the top it seem to push the tops of the doors further apart I also assume I'll need to make adjustments with this spring in place. thanks again

Not sure what kind you have..the ones I'm most used to seeing only have one spring for both doors, held in a plastic "carrier" that snaps into the track. They are basically self adjusting. But yes, you may need to adjust the door position in relation to the outside jambs.
Duh...I just saw you said 24" door...just 1 set (2 panels)? The snugger would go at the end. I'm really not sure which end, as I've only done 4 panel doors. Hope the instructions mention it?

The instructions provided stink. You were correct the first time. I have a pair of 24" doors (48" total) and I have the type of "double spring you referred to which would seem to fit in the center of the track. Thanks again
