door framing on wood flooring
I didn't know where to post this, but here goes:
I am planning to put a door into an interior wall where there is currently a larger opening. The floor is a real wood floor, so the question I have is: Should I frame the new wall (surrounding new door frame) right on top of the wood floor (screwing through the wood floor and into the subfloor), or should I cut the space out of the floor for the new bottom plate and screw directly into the subfloor (leaving the finished wood floor to "breathe")?
Thanks for any suggestions.
