new contruction window Question---

As subject says, this probably is a stupid quesiton but I can't figure it out so far. We bought a new place and all weather seals are crumbling to dust so I would like to replace them. in my local stores I seem to be able to find only rubber varieties, all my seals look like very short fur. All doors and windows are sliding, so rubber won't work. Question: how is this "fur" called and where do I find this stuff? Side note: I went asking about this in a store (home depot of lowes-not sure) and they kept telling me that I'm insane and there is no such thing until I showed them something very similar on their doors. Even after that they weren't too helpful though :(

We built our house ourselves and everything is done except the molding around the windows, doors and floors. We don't have the money to spend on wood molding, is there any decorating ideas to put instead of it?
