Alside replacement windows ??

Hi all. We are looking to have some vinyl rep. windows installed and have been reviewing several quotes. So far, Alside "8000 series" are seeming like a "good deal".

As we all know, the price isn't the only factor and was wondering if anyone out there had any experience w/ the "8000 series". Also, is Alside good for their warranties/a good company in general??

A local contractor would install (says he does a lot of Alside) and would be a large bay, casements and sliders. Also a patio door. Live in SE MN. Below zero today by the way....

Thumbs up Alside 8000 Series are awesome.

We just had 30-plus Alside 8000 Series windows installed including 2 sets of patio sliders.

They are awesome! We went from Polaris double pane to the Alside triple pane with Krypton gas. U Factor of .10! That's about as low as you can go. We just had a -13 degree day and the thermostat was set to 68. The windows were absolutely warm to the touch on the inside. Let's face it, triple pane with krypton and double low e coating will be great in any window, however, Alside has a great foam filled sash in addition to numerous other features. But most important, it's a great value. You can easily overpay with any namebrand.

The real answer to your question is about Alside. They have been around since 1967 so that's a strong point. We had a miscommunication occur between the contractor and Alside with an order. To make a long story short, all glass packs were replaced at no cost to us. They even made extras to have. They told us to keep the extras. Alside (and our contractor) took care of us and fixed a large problem. I will always go with alside because they will take care of any issues.

I've heard about their positive track record and our experience has proven that. The 8000 series is currently the best they have to offer and is exclusive to certain contractors. We can't figure out what we're more impressed with, the windows, or the company. They both rock!

Consumer reports has Alside listed as one of their top windows not sure if its the 8000 though
cr_windows on Flickr - Photo Sharing!
here is a link to latest CR.

Does anyone know how much it should cost to install 4 Sliders.
2 of which are 71w x 45h and the other 2- 46w x 36h.
I need to have old aluminum windows removed.
I got a quote of 3700 for windows, labor, clean up etc.

First off, consumer reports is not reliable at all for windows . they only review companies that are sold at supply houses or retail centers. That doesn't include higher end windows like Okna , Polaris Ultra, soft lite, gorell, and sunrise..
The 8000 by Alside is ok , not nearly as good as the others I just mentioned.
The other Alside products, particularly the Excalibur are very low quality and just as bad as silver line and Pella vinyl..
