Angry Can't remove lockset

Can't get old lockset out.
Probably 50 years old, exterior door with key on outside, center doorknob turn button on inside. Pushed in little lever and loosened inside round plate revealing two screws. Removed them using knive sideways since could not get screwdriver past loosened plate. Can't figure out how to get inside doorknob off. On outside, popped off doorknob by pushing nail into little hole but can not figure out how to get outside round plate off. Therefore I can't get the lockset out either direction. Any chance the outside round plate unscrews? I need to borrow a large pipe wrench to try it.

In my experience the inside knob came off the same way you explain the outside coming off. I've never had to remove any screws or the knob on the outside to get a lockset off.

I don't live in that house. I don't think there was a little hole on the inside that I could put a nail into to pop doorknob off. Will go to house again tomorrow to work on it again

Smile Victory!

Figured it out. The outside round cover plate that touches the door unscrews after you push a spring loaded rod out of the way with a screwdriver. A real genius designed this thing.
New lock set took 10 minutes to install.
