Help repairing window mullion

I have an old house, and my windows have mullions on them. My dog chewed one of the mullions and I wanted to repair or replace it. Repairing (wood putty) probably won't work-- and I think I need to replace it. Was thinking about cutting the damaged mullion out and then replacing it with a window grille-- but matching it would be tough.

Would appreciate anyone's thoughts. Thanks!

While I've made cosemetic repairs to muttens, I don't think I've ever replaced one. They are constructed with a type of mortise and tendon.

Or maybe I've misunderstood. Does your window have individual panes of glass or is it a double pane window with a window grille to make it look like the old traditional windows?
