Andersen Series 400 French Patio Door Hardware Help
We recently acquired a Series 400 french door (2 panal, both opening) by Andersen.....got a great deal in a liquidation sale - $500.
I now have to buy the locking mechanism / hardware....one for each. All I can find is $400 each for Andersen brand.
Are there any cheaper brands out there that will work? In my ignorance, I didn't budget to spend $800 on locks.....saw the $3000 door at $500 and pulled the trigger quick.
Any advice where I can find an option less than $800 would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Matt
PS - First time poster.......If I failed to follow forum etiquette, please overlook this time!

It won't be $400 for each side, that would be about the cost for both sets. Andersen uses the terms active and passive.
Depending on what style and finish you want it can be quite a bit less...or a little bit more.
Oil rubbed bronze and distressed nickle or bronze are the most expensive, close to $500..the painted Tribeca style would be around $200 or so IIRC. The Tribeca is a more modern style..the others are more traditional.
There may be hardware that is compatible, but it really won't be cheaper if it's good quality.
E-Bay can be a good souce...for instance I found these..I don't think there is any diff between the hardware for inswing or outswing...Andersen Patio Door Estate Hardware Outswing Brass - eBay (item 200367279170 end time Aug-05-09 20:35:34 PDT)
I've seen them on Craigslist also.
Any Big Box (HomeDepot or similar) or Building material store that sells Andersen could order them. They won't be $800, but they aren't cheap.

Gunguy - thank you for you help. I saw the Ebay one, we are all brushed nickel (go figure!!) so they dont cut it.
So what you are telling me is that this:
LINK HERE
Is hardware for both doors and would mean both would open and lock...ie. I buy this and I am good to go?
Sorry if I am asking the obvious......this crap is all new to me.
Cheers

Let me check something...I'll get back to you in a few. The written description says yes..but the listed parts and the parts in the picture tell me no.
That site is actually pretty expensive if I remember correctly when I was comparing pricing.
I ran into the same issue on a discount door I got..brass hardware but the door has bronze hinges (which run about $100 apiece ouch!). We are waiting to find nickel handles on sale somewhere...but wifey says the brass is ok for now.
Anyway...gotta check the Andersen site...back in a while.
EDIT Follow-up
OK...according to the P/N listed at your link, yes, that is the correct hardware.
I would still check locally..Big Box and distributors normally get a significant discount due to the volume of sales. When I worked at a Box...we often had hardware that had been misordered. We even stocked them for a time. That was a few years ago. Just ensure the P/N matches.
