Remove Window Screen

We just bought a house and it has window screens that I've never seen before. In fact, I have to find any friends or family who have seen this kind, so I'm hoping that someone here knows!

We simply want to know how to remove the screen so that we can install a window AC unit. There are tabs on the lower part of the screen, but they are fixed and do not move. Above the screen is a panel of glass about the same size. It looks like perhaps I'm supposed to first remove the glass pane and then use the tabs on the screen to slide it up and remove, but I don't know how to remove the glass pane. There are two tabs at the top of the glass pane that I unscrewed, but that didn't really get me anywhere.

Thanks in advance. I was hoping to attach photos, but it looks like that's not possible, at least on my account. I've put the photos on Flickr:

It looks like an old 2 track storm and screen window. Try pushing the screen to the left or right, it may be spring loaded. It looks like the glass panel is secured with the 2 top screws. Don't remove them until the screen is out. This is only a guess based on having seen similar windows when I was in the business.

Didn't work...

Well, that sure sounded better than anything I had thought of, but sadly didn't work.

If you cannot get the screen to come out by going side to side. Try lifting the screen up and pushing the bottom out. If that does not work, your last photo shows screws along the side of the screen. Does it look like the screws are holding a piece in place that secures the screen?

Remember that these are very old steel storm windows and rust will keep them from coming out easily. Try pushing to one side or the other. Run a utility knife between the sash and the track on the inside and outside to try to free it up. I don't see any other way. This was called an "expander storm window" and the screws that you see along the side are used to hold the side expanders in place. I don't remember having to ever unscrew a track but if all else fails, try it.
