I forget the name of them but there are tension rods in the sides of the frame. One may have come loose. There is a special tool. It's cheap but very much needed.

marquita188,

Welcome to the forums.

There are tension balancers on each side of the sash. They may be adjustable, or you may need to replace them. You'll have to remove the sash if you need to replace them. There are several different styles. A local glass shop should have the right ones for you, along with any special tools that you'll need.

She couldn't have adjusted them because you need that tool I mentioned to adjust them.

Some styles are adjustable, some are not. All of the adjustables that I'm aware of require a special tool to make the adjustments with.

They also have various strengths, depending on the size of the window sash that they are being used on.
