New Yankee Workshop Kitchen project

I've been watching this series and was interested in buying the tool/jig that Norm used to center the door on the recycling center door. The door is mounted with screws similar to a door pull, but used 4 screws.

Does anyone know who manufactured this tool/jig?

Have you checked the website? I know TOH normally lists any odd tools or materials used, not sure about NYW.

Yes, I checked both the NYW website and reviewed the program for credits.

The two tool credits where for BLUM and WILLIAMS & HUSSEY.

I checked Blum first, but could not find the tool/jig and then I checked W&H and they didn't have anything close.

Episode 807, Kitchen Island, 7 of 9 part series.

The tool/jig locates the mounting holes for the door to the recycling bin.

Wow...sorry...their site isn't set up like TOH. No links to special tools or suppliers for each episode....
Best I can suggest if you can't find it or another way is to write the show..they have a lot of FAQs.

Are you sure it isn't something he made?

The process goes something like this.

Norm located where he wanted the screws holes drilled in the recycle bin and approximently marked the back of the door.

At the marked locations on the back of the door Norm drills 4 1" to 1 1/4" holes with a Forsner bit.

He then place a "dowel' pin plug, similar to the small dowel pin locators used to mark the location of the placement of the dowel.

Then Norm centers the door in the opening and presses the pins into the recycle bin frame.

Then the "dowel pins" are removed from the door and a plastic insert, with a machine screw insert, in hammered into the holes in the door.

The marks on the recycle bin frame are drilled and the door in mounted to the recycle bin with 4 machine screws, much like installing draw pulls/handles.

The 'dowel pins" and plastic inserts are what I am looking for. Norm's only comment was "I got these from the mfg."

Inserts

The inserts should have been supplied with the hinges.

The 'door' is really more like a large drawer front, there are not hinges.
