installing a double door in a 48" opening

Hi, i have an opening of about 48 1/2" and i want to install a double stain grade door. Is this the right size for a standard double door? I never installed one, does it just get shimmed? or screwed? What are some pointers from the pros out there?

Is this an exterior or interior door opening? If you install double doors, you will only have a 24" door, and will have to open both of them to gain access to the other side comfortably. Is the opening cased or bare framing? Is there sheetrock installed on the walls on both sides of the studs? Sorry for the questions, but for a good answer we'll need more.

sorry for not providing enough info.
It is an interior opening that used to be a closet with 2 24" slider doors. Yes, there is sheetrock on both sides. The opening available is 47 1/8" with frame. If i take the frame out it measures 48 3/4".
We are still not certain what should be done. The guy that was doing work suggested using a 48" double door there, but i don't know.
Also, this door is going into our master bedroom.

It finally hit me like a ton of bricks. This guy was gonna hang 2 doors on the existing frame. The 2 doors would be smaller than 2 ft. in width. I don't think this will look good. I already ripped down the old fram and will be buying a 32 or 36" door tomorrow.

Good decision, a 48 inch double door would take a 50 inch wide rough opening.
