Pocket door problem

My son moved into a new house. The laundry room has a pocket door. The railing is totally damaged and the door falls off the railing. The railing is screwed to the top of the pocket, making it hard to reach the screws in order to remove the railing and replacing it. Anyway to remove the railing, short of having to tear into the wall to do it? Thanks
Ray

Ray, welcome to the forums! Just curious. How badly damaged is the rail. I have been thinking, and I can't come up with a way to damage one short of a hammer. Now, is it the rail or a failed trolley? Have you dislocated the trolley from the door and pulled it off the rail? Sometimes misaligned wheels on the trolley can cause it to jump off.
To answer your question, you won't be able to remove the rail without surgical procedure on the wall, because it goes back into the wall the same distance as the width of the door.
