Locked floor to ceiling window with broken knob

Hi, I have a floor to ceiling and somehow a friend managed to break the know that locks it and now it's in the locked position. I'm wondering if there is a way to unlock it and replace the lock? or Will i have to replace the whole window? Any help will be much appreciated.

here is what looks like right now.

Screws are on the right and there is no space to get a screw driver there to release the latch.

You might have to cut the handle off with a grinder (being careful not to knick the door or the trim). Once you remove both sides of the handle you should be able to turn the latch with a screwdriver.

You might also succeed if you grind the heads of the screws off, at which point the handle should just fall off.

Getting a new handle shouldn't be much of a problem.
