Question vinyl sliding window in shower drain question

We recently installed a Jeld-Wen vinyl sliding window in our shower. Out of an abundance of caution, we put silicon caulking along the track on the inside of the window as a significant amount of water sometimes splashes on the window from the inside. Now that I think more about this, I'm wondering if we did the right thing as water collects in the track. Should we remove the caulking? Will the water drain to the outside through the weep holes on the outside of the window? See link below for photos.

Thanks!

-Jay

Welcome to the forums! Nothing personal, but why in the world would you put an operating window in a shower? You are only inviting problems from moisture and water splashing, and I can guarantee you won't like it in the long run. I have a fixed panel thermopane light in my shower in my rental cabin, but it is 5 1/2' off the floor and is tempered glass. Clients like it, although they question it in a shower. I have to tell them only the bears can see in, and only if they are in a tree.
Have you thought of replacing the movable window with a fixed window?

We needed an egress there for code. A vinyl sliding window seemed like a good compromise. In retrospect, you are probably right. We have done a good job of sealing it though and will have to keep an eye on it. After talking with the manufacturer, it sounds like it is designed to drain to the outside from the track (it makes sense as water could just easily get in that area from inclement weather), so I'm going to remove the caulking. Any advice on removing silicone caulking <g>?

Egress in a bathroom???? I'd buck on that one. What did they state was the reason? Is it the only window for the bedroom attached to it?

I'm in the same situation.

It's well worth it to me to be able to open the window while showering so I did the same thing. I'd like to know the best way to make this work AND have the window in the shower.

Thanks, Eric
