New 32" front door or?

I need a new front entry door and the existing door is 32", it makes most things that go through a challenge and beats up the door/jam a bit, I got this house to be a rental home and I like the 32" size for the renters will not be bringing some 900 lb sofa/bed hybrid combo stuff through that door way...but it wouldn't surprise me if some try!...I can get just a flat slab solid wood door for less that $100 or a solid 6 panel for like $160, I would like to do it up to par and install a pre-hung 36" but that would be a lot of work removing the existing jam, cutting the concrete block, it could be done...but...

Just looking for opinions from others with similar situations or experience.

I wouldn't bother increasing the size of the opening unless you have a specific need to. As a rental, I'd stay with the 32" door width.

Yeah, I'd probably enlarge it if I was going to live there but wouldn't go to that level of hassle for a rental

Thanks guys, that's where I was leaning.

What do you think about the flat solid door vs. the six panel for a front door at about 1/2 price? I know a flat door is boring but there will be a screen door on the outside.

The only thing I have against the flat doors is the interior is usually particle board. What ever type of wooden door you wind up using, be sure to coat all 6 edges - that includes the tops and bottoms. That will help the door last longer and your checkbook will thank you

This is a rental, so I again would make the cheaper choice rather than the aesthetically pleasing one

Why go wood at all? I see pre-hung 32" steel doors with brickmold for $139 at my local HD.
