Moisture Between Class in Front Door
We have moisture inbetween the panes of glass in our front door. It either gets worse, or is at least more noticeable when the sun hits the glass at certain time of the day.
I'm assuming this means the seal has been compromised somewhere. Is there a chance is under waranty (its a tad less than 4 years old).
If not, is this something I can repair?
It's probably good that you know the door is half glass (on top obviously) and the bottom half fiberglass.
Thanks!

No warranty I would guess...but new insert is probably not that expensive.
Depending on the door..pretty simple..or more complicated.
Hmmmm after thinking...some have 10 yr warranty if you have documentation.

Thanks, guys. All the windows and doors were bought at the same local dealer. I can call them - they're usually helpful on this sort of thing.
If its out of warranty, they can order a replacement insert. It looks like its a few screws - seems pretty simple.

A did a quick search under "implied warranty in Indiana" and did not see a strong emphasis on extended coverage, however, all new products do carry some form of implied warranty. Even if it does not apply here directly, just the fact that this product is normally intended to last for many years and has failed in under 4 should allow you some room for consideration. From the suppliers point of view, s/he does not want the bad PR related to early failures of products s/he sold. What that means is, they can make an adjustment when they want to. You just have to kindly motivate them in that direction. Secret lists, good will adjustments, factory recalls to the store only, there are many tools at their disposal to retain a good customer. Note, I emphasized good.
Stand your ground and there is a good chance the store or factory will take care of you.

Looking at a couple of manufacturers...most warrant glass for about 5 yrs. Kinda hard to find the info sometimes. They almost all say no high heat condition or storm doors or warranty is void.

Wow. This information is very useful. Thanks. For what it's worth, its a Therma Tru and in my dealings with the local dealer since, they seem like good folks. I'll call them next week.
Again, thanks for all the feedback!!!

IMO, you should get a new plastic frame WITH the new IGU (insulating glass unit). They get old and brittle due to UV light, and if you get a new one, the glass should be sealed to one side of the plastic frame so that all you have to do is pop it in, and screw the frame to the interior side.

Again, thanks for the tips. I just looked up Therma Tru's warranty and it looks like the glass is warranteed for the life of the door. Looks like I'm calling the dealer tomorrow.
