plexiglass vs glass

I have a window in the liven room, that the kids, or the dog, or both break at least twice a year. I keep glass on hand to replace it with it. I was wondering if plexiglass would be a better way to go. Or is there something better that wouldn't break so easy.

How big are the panes you have to replace?? Plexiglas is really expensive if you have to install large sheets of it. It is not the best substitute for glass. Earlier stuff used to yellow in time. Formulations may be different now. It will scratch more than glass, so be ready for that, too.
But it will work!

Plexiglas probably would be the way to go. It's not that nice after it gets all scratched up, but at least it won't break on you. When the kids are older and the dog is more mellow, you can go back to glass. How does the window get broke? Would some kind of bar arrangement be able to protect it? Perhaps a hardware cloth.

Lexan.....durn sure that won't break, and more resistant to scratches and yellowing.

It is a set of three windows, that forms a bay window over the drive way, in a raised ranch. And it is always the center one, 32X28. I had though about some kind of grill, or bars. But my wife doesn't want it looking like a prison, when you oull in the drive way. What is a hardware cloth, I have never heard of that.

Hardware cloth is woven wire. I don't think your wife will like it.

Tempered glass is about 6 times stronger than glass and will match the other two windows. If they are hitting a golf ball into the window tempered may break.
