Homeowner expectations of contractor
I am replacing my roof and siding. Along with this, I need to have my front entry door and a back steel door replaced. I let my contractor know in mid-August that I needed to have this done, because of the large amount of rot in and around both doors. We are now 2 weeks into the roofing/siding project and I just learned that the front of the house cannot be resided until the entry door is found, and once it is, it will probably take from 3 to 8 weeks to receive. My contractor seems annoyed at having to find these doors. He hasn't given me a price to replace these yet, but I never imagined it would be so difficult to find a pre-hung fan-lite door and a steel 9-lite door. Is it unreasonable to look to my contractor to be able to find these? Am I asking more of my contractor than most people ask? He has been in business at least 20 years and has an excellent reputation.
In addition, the roofers removed the old roof and installed new felt paper last Friday, without covering it with plastic. It poured all day Monday, then first thing Tuesday, the roofers started installing the standing seam metal roof. I mentioned I thought we should have put down plastic to protect the felt, and the contractor said no. Am I being unreasonable to have wanted plastic covering the exposed felt, since the metal roofing was installed over damp, if not wet, felt?

Assuming your doors are standard size. I would think such doors would be in stock in the big box stores. It sounds like he doesn't want to replace the doors for whatever reason.
I don't know about metal roofs but i think it would be a miracle if you didn't have water damage when it poured witth no roof on please check in the attic spaces. you can call the manufacter of the metal roof and ask if this was a proper install .

I agree, it shouldn't be too difficult to locate a door for your application, UNLESS your expectations of the door are way out there. If you make it difficult, it will take time. Consider picking out an in-stock door. He is right, the siding can't be completed until the door is in place.
I wouldn't worry too much about the roof if there was felt installed. That's what it is there for. If installed properly it will shed the water off and not cause problems. There is no more need to protect the felt than there is need to protect the shingles.
