Has anyone ever installed a keyless keypad on their exterior door to their house? Kind of like the ones you would see at a commercial/industrial company. Do they make them for residential doors? Are they expensive to have installed? I wouldn't want it to necessarily be hooked up to my security system. I just would like one for ease (swiping a keyfob to lock/unlock the door) and possibly hooking it up to my smartphone to lock/unlock the door from my phone. Anyone have any experience with this, ideas, positive or negative comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I've only had experience with them in high rise office buildings. Most of them used a key card, similar to a credit card. I imagine that they can be installed in a residential setting. Call a local locksmith for prices. It can't be cheap, that's for sure.

Thanks for the follow up!
Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I agree it will probably be expensive. I would think there would be more cases in residential settings. I'll look into it! Thanks again!

Thank you for commenting!
Every locksmith I checked with in my area doesn't know about installing one except one and they want $1000+ to install one. I may have to wait a little longer till it becomes more common. Then I should be able to install one and for a decent price. Thank you again! Cheers! Greg

Which kind of key less lock are you looking for. They make ones with little push button, you inter a code, and the lock opens, or you can use a key. They have them at lowes, and can be installed in a normal lock set hole. The other kind with a relay on the striker plate, and a card key may be a lot harder to find. You might find something like that on e-bay used.
