Need help for adding door
There are two openings in my kitchen, one is between kitchen and living room, the other is between hallway and kitchen. My wife wants to add doors to these two openings. If my measure of the opening is 30"x80", what size of door (include frame) should I look for at Homedepot? Any other things I should pay attention? Thanks.

You could fit a 28" wide door but you will have to cut about 1 1/2 inch off the door and jamb hieght. It will be a skinny low doorway and you might have problems getting appliances in or out of there in future.

when you say "openings" are you talking about rough openings (framing - framing) or do you have existing wood jambs (a cased opening) that are 30" wide? Or are they currently drywall openings?

If you are measuring the finished opening, you will probably be able to use a 30" standard prehung door unit. You will need the measurements to the framing to really know. BTW, be ready, your wife may learn to hate the doors to a kitchen. She will feel closed up in the room.

You really need 81 1/2" height for a standard prehung door. You can always cut the casing and door off to fit. You can squeeze a 28" door in the opening, but as you have alluded to, it will feel like walking into a bathroom closet.
