pocket door "poppers"

I'm replacing some pocket doors in my house and would like to install these in the new doors. They're like the little things on an entertainment center glass door where you push on the door and it pops open a little bit. I saw it on an episode of TOH I think, but I haven't been able to find them anywhere.

The only thing I find on the internet are door poppers for custom cars. None of the big box stores around here know what I'm talking about.

Does anybody know of such a thing anywhere?

Search for "single push magnetic door latch".....though they may be pretty difficult to use in your application. Normally pocket doors just have a little lever on the end that you raise to pull the door out of the wall.

They are available at home centers...but limited selection.

Did you see Tom Stiva - or whoever was featured in that episode - use these on a pocket door? All of the ones I've ever seen were for pivoting doors.

Iv you can get the doors to stop and stay put while flush with the jamb, you could install one or two compression springs with bumpers on the end that would "magically" push the door out far enough for someone to grab the pull plate. If they pushed it just right, that is.

@Nashkat - Yes that's where I saw it. I'm pretty sure that was a regular sliding pocket door but I could be wrong. He never said who made it. Maybe I should hit the TOH website.

Cool! A spring loaded gizmo you mortise into the door instead of mounting to the pocket!

What'll they think of next?
