Thoughts for old window use
This window is located inside the house but was once located outside. The old owner had it covered with some custom Ikea peice. Im looking to restore it and use it as shelving. Just curious on suggestions as it is not plum or square.
I'm thinking of adding the old style wood trim to the front and fixing the plaster on the inside. Then getting glass shelves made for it. Also thought of putting doors on it that look like the old windows from 1901.
Thoughts or ideas??

I'd build a box with a back that is square and slide it in almost tight. The use wide enough trim to cover the edge of the box and extend slightly over the wall. You could drill holes for shelf pegs in the sides of the box before it is assembled.

Maybe I didnt explain it well, the house is from 1901 and I prefer to redo the window to have the old style of the house instead of newer look.
The previous owner had a custom box for it but it did not fit the house.

What are you planning to do with the back? I think I'd try to make that look like the old window - maybe add a hidden light there - and then mount the shelves in front of it. Plain trim around the casing. Probably with both an apron and a stool, but whatever the older windows elsewhere have.
One question: What plaster on the inside?

I think I figured out what I will do. I am going to cover the 2 sides and top with 1/4" drywall since the existing plaster is loose and I am afraid of it flaking off in the future. On the back will be drywall too. In the top, I will do a light and redo the window sill with oak or something to make it flat. After it is all done, I will put a statue in it. I have a nearby light switch that currently does nothing, so I can fish a wire over there so I have control of that light.
