stripped to much of oak door
i was stripping off my oak door and i stripped to much off and chips came off. I put clear satin and you can still see the big gashes . Need to make it better .

Welcome to the forums! How did you strip it? If you sanded it most likely you removed a good portion of the veneer. Is it possible for you to post pictures of what you did so we can see what you see? http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

Sure sounds like you removed pieces of the veneer 
It might be possible to use some wood filler on those spots coupled with some artistic painting/staining to get the repair acceptable. Pics would be nice.
If it's at the bottom of the door - would a kick plate hide the damage?

Ok, I have to ask - what were you stripping that required a chisel?

It's hard for us to know what you have going on without seeing it? Why did you need a degreaser? wouldn't a wide putty knife have been better than a chisel?
