Nickel door knobs without plate between door and trim?
Looking to replace old brass/ gold knobs but have the "pound in" type. Is there a direct replacement in nickel?

Welcome to the forums! Don't know. It may help us to help you if you were to post a few pictures of what you have so we can see what you see. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

Bought a new door knob to test out and it only came with a striker plate. And a new mechanism will not work with what I have. Can't seem to find anything like this online either. Was hoping it would be an easy swap. Not sure what brand these are either.

May not be exactly what you are looking for, but they are available. Kwikset 300M 26D CP Mobile Home Privacy Lockset | eBay

I've read this several times and have no idea what you are asking.
The "strike plate" is what's in your bottom picture. Circular strike plates like this are not standard with new hardware. You would have to special order them separately. Yours look like Schlage's.
The "latch" style shown in the first picture is a "drive in" style of latch. Almost any passage, privacy or entry knob will come with the option to install your latch in one of 3 ways... drive in, square corner face plate or rounded corner face plate.
IMO, if you are having problems its probably because of those silly old strike plates. You should probably remove them and use the new strike plates that will come with your new hardware. You will likely have to chisel out a new mortise for the new strike plate to sit in.

I'm with Larry - check your local MH supplier. Best I can remember, every MH I've worked on had one or more of those types of locksets. I don't ever recall that type being used in a conventional house. On more than one occasion I've chiseled out the door edge to accommodate the square edge latch.

Also keep in mind that those strike plates you have are adjustable. If the new knob won't close for some reason, you can adjust the strike plate by loosening the phillips screw in the middle and moving the stop block forward to enlarge the hole.
