I have three single car garage doors. One of these keeps throwing the cable OFF on one side.
I have rewound it, loosened the two square headed holding screws on the drum, and using a chain wrench applied tension which seems to be equal to the tension on the other side. I have noticed today that one of the top door track roller brackets is bent some, which puts the wheel in a bit of an odd roll, it never comes out of the track though.
When I applied tension to the cable, I made certain the the distance from the bottom of the door was equal on each side of the door bottom.
Any thoughts are most welcome/needed. I am a hands on person, respect the door spring, so care is taken.
Thank You,

I'm not in a position to send pic's. I am now thinking the cable spool isn't lined up with the botrom of the door where the cable LOOP hooks, so maybe such is forcing the cable off the spool.
I will work on that possibility TONIGHT. Looking at the top of the door when inside, the very top roller bracket on the left is bent, thus the roller/wheel is a tad out of whack. I will remove it, straighten, and support it so it will be in proper alignment.

I've found..... that once the cable is thrown off the pulley several times it seems like the only effective way to repair it is to replace the pulley and realign it.

PJmax, I did find that the pulley was an inch or more out of alignment. i am guessing that such is/was a factor. We will see. At some point in the past the spring shaft had moved to the left, and such may have caused this issue.
I will post back in a few days if all goes well.

My adjusting the spool/pulley seems to have worked, MAYBE, LOL.
I did notice when the door is UP, the two cables are NOT tight from the drum to the door, wonder if this is normal? They don't seem to be loose enough to allow them to slip/fall over the side of the pulley though.
