What size nails to adhere metal z-flashing to window trim?

I have trim around my window. This was a recent remodel job and all windows and trim are installed. I am trying to nail some z flashing to the trim and was wondering what size nail do I need to use. The trim is approx 3/4".

Why are you nailing z flashing to your trim? Can you post a picture of what you are trying to do?

z-flashing only goes on top... and you don't nail it to the trim, you nail it to the wall above the top piece of trim. Then siding covers the upper leg of the z-flashing. If the house is already sided, and you are slipping the z-flashing behind the existing siding, you can just put a couple siding nails through the siding (and z-flashing) to hold the z-flashing in place.

The size of nail really doesn't matter, it just has to be enough to keep it from moving.
