Need help properlly measuring doors.
First of all, I suck at home repairs. I end up breaking more than I fix.
First of all, I have a pre-hung door that needs to be replaced. I can't measure the existing door because the one that's in there is the wrong size. I replaced it once before and didn't measure correctly so the width of the frame was too narrow. It caused gaps and never closed correctly. Is there a way to measure for a replacement without removing the door frame? I'm afraid we have unusual sized doors and something will have to be special ordered.
The other door is just the door itself, the slab. Sounds easy enough I know but when I measured just the slab, I get some odd measurements. I must be doing something wrong.

You will have to start with a 28"x80" door and cut it down.
What does the prehung measure? Or what's the distance between studs? Give us something to go on.
You probably had the right size prehung but just need to sawzall some room in the rough opening.
