Question

My house is 15 years old. The windows did not have wood framing and sills. I want to put wood framing around the windows for decorative use, but I don't know how! I know that I don't want to have to fool around with mitered corners so I want to have the old country style with the wide frames. I need a wide sill so that my cats can lay in the windows. Are there any books out there that can give me some pointers on how to go about doing this? Please help!!!!

Make a trip to your local big box store or a good lumber yard. Spend some time looking in the wood trim section. Avoiding the mitered corners and still getting a good looking frame is easily done. Use decorative blocks for the two top corners. Everything goes together with butt joints. Very easy, and, done accurately, it's very attractive.
