New roof meets window
I'm considering replacing my windows with either hurricane impact windows or hurricane shutters. This one window is on 2nd floor (I will only consider shutters that can be secured from inside on 2nd floor) and the front of the house. The new first floor sloped roof basically meets the bottom of this one window...
Some of the shutter guys say I don't have enough room under this window to install the accordion shutters (apparently, the only type of shutters I can secure from inside) on this window.
That said, how will either replacing the window or installing shutters affect where the new roof meets the bottom of the window?
Thanks!

The only way that you can change how the roof meets that windows is by raising the header & the sill, if you want the same size window. There is no other way to make room, for the shudder. If you do that, it won't match the window, on the adjacent wall. It's also much more work than it's worth.

Only one shutter guy told he could NOT put the accordion shutters in without as you say "...much more work than it's worth.".
Would the same be true for replacing this window with same size new hurricane impact window?

Replacing the current window with a hurricane window, shouldn't be a problem. The only thing is that I don't know anything about the quality of them or if they work as advertized.

Trying to figure out quality, now! I'm looking at PGT vs CGI windows...Anyone shed some light on performance & quality???
I have chosen ETI (Eurotech) for my front entry door:
http://etiwindows.com/store/productd...hp?ProductID=4
I'm in Dade County, 1/2 mile from ocean and most contractors are quoting me for aluminum over vinyl. Here's what PGT told me about aluminum vs vinyl, I'd appreciate your thoughts and opinions!
"Vinyl
It is more energy efficient.
A vinyl frame does not conduct heat like aluminum frame.
It comes automatically with Insulated Glass.
Vinyl meets better design pressures.
Our Premier Vue line comes automatically with stainless steel hardware.
Aluminum
You have an option of getting Insulated Glass.
Will only meet Energy Star if proper glass options are requested."
