Single Hung, Double Pane Window Break...
Recently a mower kicked up a rock and shattered my sunroom window. The window consists of two panes. The rock penetrated my very strong screen
and broke the outside pane, coming to rest in the void between the two panes. My window only opens from the bottom.
Is there any way to replace an entire window pane without replacing the whole window unit? If so what do I have to do besides get rid of the broken glass to start.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I'm lucky to have a very old window company in town that comes out, measures and fixes ANY window or screen problems I have. If the mover is going to be paying for this, then find your old reliable window people and have them take care of it. We have some pros here who will chime in I'm sure. What brand window and how old?

The window is from one of the typical newly built homes. I don't know the name, as I'm pretty sure you purchase them from lowes right off the rack. And I am assuming it's the mower who accidentally shot out a rock as the rock is the same rock from under the neighbors deck. However, I didn't notice the damage until a day later, so I have to eat the costs.

You may not need to eat the cost. At least give the company/person a call and say the day after they mowed the window was broken. If they want to do business in that neighborhood they should be quick to take care of the problem. They should have insurance specifically for occasions like this although they might be quick to pay up so it doesn't go as a claim against them.
Assuming they have insurance it is the ins co you are making the claim against.
Often, in one of the corners of the glass in almost impossible to read print, you can find the mfgs name.

The glass can be replaced, any city glass company can do it. They will have to come measure the double pane unit, order it, then come install it. If its the operating sash that is broken, you could take it out, take it to their shop so that they can measure it.... that will save them a trip and should save you some $.

thanks sleeper. it is the operating sash. My window is the typical frame built run of the mill homes with the white cross bars between the panes of glass. I have a glass company down the road from me and Ill stop by and provide them with the measurements before I bring my whole window to get a price.
Any ideas on what the going rate for this may be. Just not trying to get hit over the head.
Thanks

The grilles may present a problem if they are "unique" to the company that made the window. Your glass company will be able to put grilles inside the IGU but its possible that they may not match "exactly".
My guess would be $250 for such a repair. $175 parts + $75 labor. If you could figure out the brand and model of the window and get one from the mfg, it would probably match exactly and cost about the same. But sometimes that's easier said than done.
