Unhappy 84 Lumber Kit Single Hung Windows

I'm trying to replace a sash on a window of my stepdaughter's house. I can't find a manufacturer name or part number on it. Does anyone know what it might be? It's a 32X60 size, single hung, that is, the bottom sash moves and tilts, but the upper one is stationary. I have the little gold sticker from the window, but it doesn't give a manufacturer. Appreciate any help. This is my first post on this forum.

Welcome to the forums!

Why do you need to replace the sash? If the sash frame is good but the glass is broke, you can get new insulated glass made to fit - see your local glass company

Broken

The glass was broken as well as both corners where the pivot pins are located. I've had the glass replaced in two others when it was just the glass. I'm going to look again today for the mfg's sticker or anything else that might identify it, and get pictures to post if possible.

Pic

I tried to upload a pic of the gold label, but no go. It didn't come up the same way as the directions, there was no button at the bottom of the screen.

Do you mean click on the "Link" icon to add a URL? I'm new to this type of site.

Or just use the second submit box here CERTIFIED PRODUCTS DIRECTORY - American Architectural Manufacturers Association and enter the manufacturers code. The manufactures code is in small letters in the larger box on the label where it says Code:xxx-1.

Pictures

I tried several times, following the directions, to upload a photo, with no luck. The "Insert Image" button works, but the whole rectangle doesn't appear. I get a blank for "From Computer" and "URL", then go to my computer for the picture, and get an error code "Picture failed to load" or something like that. My computer must be missing some program or another that won't let this function work correctly. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also, the gold label I have is from the NFRC, with an SPM-M-016 code in the last block. I tried this in the AAMA site, and can't find anything definitive. Thanks.

Look at this PDF that explains your sticker.

http://www.aamanet.org/upload/file/A...5-2006_CPD.pdf

Then follow Gunguy's directions in post #9. The number you are mentioning is pretty meaningless as far as figuring out the brand and model of the window is concerned.

You want to identify "A" and "C" in the PDF above.

thanks

Thanks. Here's a pic of the labels. I think I should have been using the paper clip (attaachments).

For some reason, the NFRC sticker picture will not upload.

The AAMA sticker is normally on the sides, top or bottom of the sash, where it would meet the frame. If the other stickers are still there (how old are these windows anyway?) then the AAMA stickers should be as well. Most NFRC labels normally have the manufacturer and model of the window right on them?

This NFRC sticker was on the top inside of the window. I don't know how old the windows are, but the house was built around 1999 or 2000. I stumbled across a list somewhere in my searching the internet which identified the SPM-M-016 as the Superseal window Co. which was absorbed by Hurd. I used my other camera to take another picture of the label. Hope it loads. Nope, still tells me "Upload of file failed" Oh well, it is a jpg.

Does anyone know where I might find, or order, one of these windows? 84 Lumber can't seem to help any.

In all likelihood, as you have found out on other forums, SPM was code for Superseal windows and doors. Since they have been bought out by a larger company, you're out of luck. The model of your window was likely discontinued long ago, so it really doesn't matter who you get your next window from. You'll never find an exact match.

Unfortunately, no matter how much you ask around, it's not going to change the fact that these windows are discontinued. So you might as well find another window company and buy one from there.

Okay, thanks. It's what I expected, but I had some time to ask around and hunt for one.

If you haven't yet contacted Hurd, unlikely you will find anyone else who knows. Often when a company is bought out, they continue making the exact same window, but it is re-branded to fit into the parent line. Of course sometimes they also just buy the company for their manufacturing facilities and market share and completely change the design. You need to find someone at Hurd that can answer that question.

PPG Solargate 1000 was introduced in 1998 so it may be tough to fin a replacement sash.

I think total replacement would be a better option if an exact sash can't be found.

Window

Well, I couldn't find a duplicate, so got a similar size from Home Depot in stock, and installed it in about 4 hours, including peeling back the vinyl siding, adding J-channel to the outside to make it match the other windows, and reinstalling the siding and shutters. Wasn't as hard as I thought, but hard enough.

The first one is always the longest. I've had customers tell me it took 2 hrs for the first replacement window, but by the last it was down to 30 min.
