small horizontal windows: double slider vs single slider benefit?

I'm in market for a 32" x 18" horizontal slide window for shower room. What is the reason for having double slider instead of just a simple single slider? I see no increase in opening for air or anything, except having the extra choice of left or right opening. Any idea?

Thanks,
Brian

IMO there is no benefit to a single slider. The smaller the window, the more problematic a double slider is, IMO. A single slider is often superior in air infiltration and water resistance. Easier to install too.

Like you said, a double slide can be opened either way so it gives you that option depending on which side you prefer to open.

Chandler,

I had been reading at Milgard site and there was not much info about the benefit.

Xsleeper,

Thank you, and you had confirmed what I had suspected. I will take the single slider -- cheaper and stronger. for a 32" width, it doesn't matter which side to open, in a shower room.
