Cracked & hole in vinyl window frame

Just purchased a house and need to fix a cracked - hole in the exterior of a vinyl window frame. Hard to explain so I have attached some pics. Not suer how it happened but would like to get it closed up before winter. Anyone have any ideas?

Welcome to the forums! Back up and take a composite picture of the window, not the hole. Can you identify the brand of window? Markings, tags, etc?

No, that's not something that can be replaced or repaired... it's part of the master frame around the window sash. The best that you can do is maybe prefill the hole with some sort of putty, then get some white Stelmax 1985 (order from ebay, ebay.uk or amazon) and cover the puttyed hole and cracks with that.

I would guess that the guy with the hammer who was nailing the roofing nails into the nailing fin got a little carried away.

As a quick fix before the snow flys I would stuff with insulation anf use some tape to cover it. Then come spring fix it properly.
