new closet door won't close after remvoving the hinges to paint it
I was very meticulous in installing a new closet door. I have to reframe it as I was going to a hinged door rather than the previous sliding doors. When I hung the door the gap was perfect. The door would open and close easily. I then took the door off the hinges to paint the door and put them back on when it was dry. To my surprise, after putting the door back on, the top still has a good gap but the bottom hits. The jamb is still plumb and the gap is still 28 1/2" for the 28" door from top to bottom. But with the door installed, it hits on the bottom like the door frame is racked or something. What should i look for? I already tried taking the hinges off to make sure they were reinstalled correctly and they seem to be. One side has a countersink for the screws so i know they are on right. Kind of baffled as to how it doesn't fit now.

Did you recess the hinge into the door frame? Did it fit back into the mortice properly?
Usually it is the top that sags causing the top to drag not the bottom. Did you drive in a longer screw into the top hinge that would be pulling on the whole door? You can also drive a 3" screw into the framing on the bottom hinge to pull that end back a little.
