Exterior Door Sweeps
Maybe I'm calling it the wrong thing but can anyone suggest a good exterior door sweep? There is an unbelievable breeze coming through the bottom of my front and back doors (thermal camera says 46-48 degrees on a 36 degree night).
There's a U shaped Frost King vinyl slide on one that's there now and its tearing apart and I just installed it in October. Unbelievable!!!
At this point I'm hoping to find another slide on one so I don't have to take the door off in 20-30 degree temps. Even if it only lasts a few months till spring when it's warmer and I can replace it with a permanent one that would work too.
Also, do you think it would be better to hire someone to come in and "do it right?"?
Thanks

A few pics of your sweep and how it interacts with the floor and threshold should help us determine why it's wearing out so soon http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html

It looks like the rug is hitting the sweep and the abrasive action is tearing it. I know it's nice to have a rug next to the door but the door doesn't set high enough to give it clearance.

Thanks again marksr for the quick reply. So do you think I should just move the rug further from the door and try again with the same style and brand? I read a few reviews that this has happened to others with the Frost King product and some that it works great.

That's an adjustable threshold, if it's up to high it's going to destroy the sweep like yours is doing.
Turn the screws counter clockwise and use a tapping block to lower it.
Should be just barely bending the rubber.
Going to need a new sweep anyway but this time buy the one made of metal not plastic.
